A special team was formed under the direction of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Muhammad Saeed Qureshi who successfully completed this complex task.
In the operating theater, under the supervision of Dr. Shubha Lakshmi, Head of Infectious Diseases, all the work was done including banning the staff from wearing protective clothing. Professor Saeed Khan and other staff were also present.
A Dow University Hospital spokesman said the newborn was rushed to the hospital's pediatric unit, where the baby weighed 3.1kg, while the first two babies were delivered by cesarean section.
According to the statement, initially corona antibodies were tested on the child's blood sample. Saeed Khan, a professor of molecular pathology, said that the test was negative while further diagnostic tests were being conducted.
According to the spokesperson, the family members of the woman affected by Corona had already undergone cod tests. All the family members including the husband are safe from Corona. The child has been kept under the special supervision of pediatricians.
