The US president has signed a presidential order imposing sanctions on the certain staff of the International Criminal Court (ICC), whose staff is investigating possible US military involvement in war crimes in Afghanistan.
The Trump administration claims that the tribunal in
The Hague is trying to curb US national sovereignty and that Russia wants to influence the ICC to gain its own interests.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will be able to block the entry of special staff and family members into the United States of America.
Mike Pompeo said the Americans were being intimidated so they would not remain silent.
The US Secretary of State has said that the Kangaroo Court cannot threaten the United States, while the International Criminal Court has rejected US sanctions.
ICC prosecutors want to investigate possible war crimes committed in Afghanistan from 2003 to 2014.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) says it has gathered evidence that US troops have tortured and abused civilians in Afghanistan. A spokesman for the court said ICC officials were reviewing Mike Pompeo's statement.
