ISLAMABAD: Chairman PTI Imran Khan has filed a petition for the vote of overseas Pakistanis, challenging the amendments in the Federal Government's Election Act.
The petition lists the federation, the Election Commission and NADRA as parties and challenges the federal government's amendments to the Election Act.
The petition said that the court should declare the amendments made in the Election Act unconstitutional, order the provision of voting facility to overseas, and order that in the next general election, the overseas can vote with ease.
The petitioner said that the Election Commission should be directed to provide funds to NADRA and NADRA should use the voting method for overseas Pakistanis.
It may be recalled that in May this year, the National Assembly had approved the disenfranchisement of overseas Pakistanis to vote, after which overseas Pakistanis would not be able to exercise their right to vote abroad.
