The moon will be just above the Kaaba, but when?

Riyadh: The Jeddah Astronomical Society says that the moon will be just above the Kaaba on Thursday, which will make it easier to determine the direction of the Qibla.

According to the Saudi website, the Society of Astronomy in Jeddah said that the 7th of Ramadan will be on Thursday, April 30, above the Kaaba and the moon will be visible across the country without any binoculars.

Majid Abu Zahra, head of the Jeddah Astronomical Society, said on his Facebook page that the moon would appear on the horizon of Makkah at 11:39 pm.

He said that when the moon is above the Kaaba, it will be at an altitude of 895,151 degrees, the moon will be 47.8% brighter and at a distance of 387,154 km from the sun.

Abu Zahra added that the sighting of the moon above the Kaaba gives the most accurate calculations by astronomers about the rotation of stars and planets. This suggests that experts are pinpointing the exact location of all the stars and planets, including the moon.

Abu Zahra added that the direction of the qiblah can be easily determined with the help of the sight of the moon above the Kaaba.

Residents of distant lands can now easily determine the direction of the Qibla towards the Ka'bah at this time. In the past, people around the world used to determine the direction of the Qibla in the same way.

It should be noted that this year the moon will be seen on the Kaaba for the second time. Earlier, on March 6, 2020, the moon came to this position.
