Talks between two Taliban groups on the deployment of Mullah Omar's son
The Afghan peace process in Doha, the capital of Qatar, and the deployment of the son of former Taliban leader Mullah Omar have been discussed by two key Taliban groups.
Diplomatic sources say talks have taken place between the Taliban's political and diplomatic office in Qatar and the Taliban leadership and council in Afghanistan.
Diplomatic sources said the appointment of Mullah Yaqub was also discussed between the two Taliban groups.
Mullah Hebatullah, the Taliban's leader in Afghanistan, has chosen Mullah Yaqub to head the Taliban's military wing. Mullah Yaqub is the eldest son of Taliban founder Mullah Omar.
Sources said that there has been a disagreement between the Taliban leadership and the Shura and the Taliban political and diplomatic office over the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan.
