KABUL:

The Taliban have rejected the Afghan government's call for a ceasefire during Ramadan.

Taliban spokesman Sohail Shaheen said the demand for a ceasefire was unreasonable and had no logic.

Sohail Shaheen said the Afghan government had so far released 550 Taliban prisoners from 18 provinces.

The Taliban spokesman said that in the current situation, thousands of prisoners are at risk from the corona virus.
