Daily update world news - Iran says it is ready to exchange more prisoners with the United States. Iran's state news agency IRNA said the offer was made by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi on Sunday.
Michael White, a former U.S. Navy officer who has been in Iranian custody since 2018, was released by Iran last Thursday under an agreement.
In return, the United States allowed an Iranian-American doctor, Majid Tahiri, to visit Iran.
This is a rare occurrence of cooperation between the United States and Iran.
Two days before White's release, the United States allowed a jailed Iranian professor, Asghari, to leave the country.
He was convicted of stealing trade secrets.
"If there is a possibility of a prisoner exchange, we are ready to release all those who are being held in the United States in exchange for their return," Mousavi said.
