Doha: US Special Envoy Zalmai Khalilzad met with Afghan Taliban Deputy Chief Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar.

US Special Envoy Zalmai Khalilzad has arrived in Qatar for talks with the Taliban leadership on Afghan peace efforts.

According to Afghan media, the US State Department said in a statement issued on Wednesday that Zalmai Khalilzad had left for Doha, New Delhi, and Islamabad on May 5.


The State Department said Zalmai Khalilzad would meet with Taliban representatives to press for the implementation of the US-Taliban agreement, while also meeting with Indian officials in New Delhi to discuss stability in Afghanistan and the region. US Taliban agreement
It should be noted that the peace agreement between the US and the Afghan Taliban was reached in Doha on February 29, under which the Taliban would release 1,000 Taliban prisoners in exchange for the release of 5,000 Taliban prisoners, but the Afghan president refused to release 5,000 Taliban prisoners.
