Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz has approved Eid prayers in the two holy shrines (Masjid al-Haram and Masjid al-Nabawi).
Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on April 24 in Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, but prayers in mosques have been restricted due to the coronavirus.
The Saudi government has banned Eid al-Fitr prayers in mosques across the country and appealed to the public to offer prayers at home.
The Saudi government has allowed the management of mosques to recite Eid takbeers over loudspeakers.
On the other hand, Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz approved to offer Eid prayers in the two holy shrines (Masjid Al Haram and Masjid Nabawi).
According to Sheikh Dr Abdul Rehman Al-Sudais, Chief of the Haram in Presidency, the participation of ordinary worshipers for Eid prayers in the Haramin Sharifeen will be suspended and only the staff members of the Haramain Sharifeen
will be able to offer prayers.
He further said that public participation in Eid prayers would be suspended to protect the shrines from the plague.
The situation of Corona in Saudi Arabia
The deadly virus has so far killed 379 people in Saudi Arabia, while the number of infected patients has exceeded 70,000.
