Afghan Taliban announces ceasefire during Eid days, welcomes Ashraf Ghani

KABUL: The Afghan Taliban has declared a ceasefire during the Eid days, which has been welcomed by President Ashraf Ghani.

According to the British news agency, the implementation of the ceasefire announcement by the Taliban will take place from the first day of Eid today, which has come to light after the increase in attacks by the Taliban in recent weeks.

According to the BBC, the Afghan Taliban has declared a ceasefire for three days of Eid, which is expected to reduce the wave of violence in the country.

The Taliban also declared a ceasefire on the occasion of Eid last year, which was not extended after Eid.


Announcing the ceasefire, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that no action should be taken against the enemies anywhere in the country, and if an attack was made on them by the enemy, they should fully defend themselves.

A Taliban spokesman said the ceasefire had been declared only for Eid.
